After the first successful run of the CCDI’s Basic Intensive Workshop in Mpumalanga in May, we have delivered the workshop in three more provinces over the past few weeks – part of our mandate by the Department of Small Business Development to facilitate several key business development interventions across the country.

The CCDI Basic Intensive Workshop combines business skills and product refinement training and is offered to early stage businesses over a period of five consecutive days. It includes: Marketing & Communications, Business Assessment, Finance, Product Assessment and Business Vision.

The workshop facilitator is Karabo Makgoane and she is accompanied by Craig Carbutt, who introduces our online national craft and design platform www.peek.org.za to the businesses. Craig assists our new members to register and upload their product photographs onto the platform.

The first June Basic Intensive Workshop took place in Galeshewe, Kimberly in the Northern Cape from 5-9 June. The participants in this workshop were a mix of craft producers and performing artists, and exploring the linkages to local heritage was important to this group as participants identified tourists as their main target market.

After Kimberly, Karabo and Craig where then off to Soweto, Gauteng from 19-23 June, and then Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal from 3-7 July.

The next Basic Intensive Workshop will take place in the Free State in August.
